We are all image and we are all imagined; and imagining. As peacocks displaying our feathers, we show off our chosen guises to the world. Our appearances count for everything. Dragged up or dressed down, in the act of dressing we transform ourselves. We are what we wear, what we appear to be. Costume construction is a process of exploring how to define and shape the body. Manipulated and pinned into place, then sewn, fabric is transformed into wearable forms. Costume enables us to perform the many roles we play out, as it becomes our second skin.
